Cold Curing Soup

What happens when you mix cold and cough soothing-antibacterial spices with vegetables that contain antioxidant properties and protein rich lentil? It results in a super soup for curing cold. I call it Cold Curing Red Soup. I have specially selected ingredients known to help cold and cough and its symptoms like sore throat, nasal congestion, fever, headache.etc. Combine them with the soothing hot soup and it is sure to help in common cold.

Ingredients

Yields: 4; Cooking Time: 40 min.

Red Lentils (Masoor dal) 1 cup, Tomatoes medium 5 pcs, Carrots 1 pc, Beet Root 1 pc, Onion medium 1 pc, Ginger small 1 pc, Garlic 1 tsp, Lemon 1 pc, Holy Basil (Tulsi) few sprigs, Mint few sprigs, Ghee (Clarified Butter) 3 tsp, Rock Salt to taste, Turmeric 1 tsp, Asafoetida 1/4 tsp, Cloves 2 pcs, Black Pepper Powder 1 tsp, Cinnamon Powder 1 tsp, Honey/Jaggery/Date-Syrup to taste (Any one).

Add Split Red Lentils, Cloves, Roughly chopped Carrots and Tomatoes, Mint and Tulsi in a Cooker/Sauce pan.

Add Lemon, Ginger, Turmeric and roughly chopped Beet Root.

Add Cinnamon powder, Asafoetida, Garlic and Black Pepper.

Add Rock Salt, Roughly Chopped Onions, Water & Ghee.

Bring it to boil and reduce flame to simmer. Cook for 30 minutes or until cooked. Add Honey, Blend and Strain. We use inverted vessel instead of whistle on cooker to cook slowly.

Cook,-Grind-&-Strain


Plate, Garnish with Mint/Tulsi/Lemon/Ghee & Serve.
